Legacy Living

My question to you today is this.
At the end of your life will you leave a legacy behind or will you have just lived?
Will you have made a difference in the world or even just one person? Will your life have made an impact on someone else life for the better or for the worse?
Ok, yeah, that's more than just one question but they are relatively the same.
Kind of. Ish.

You know, when you go into a grave yard and you look at a grave stone, what do you see?
You see when the person was born and when that person died. But you know, there is also that little "dash" - in between the two years of birth and death. No one ever pays attention to that little "dash". Maybe we should stop and reflect on that little "dash". Because you see, that little "dash" is the life you and I are living right now.

I want to live my life in such a way that leaves a legacy when I'm gone, when I'm dead. I don't want to live my life for me, but for Christ. I want Christ to be seen in and through me.

I want to be all that I can be in Christ.

As I'm living my dash (my life) right now, I want to live it in such a way that people can only say she is a daughter of Christ.
I want His light, His love and His beauty to reflect off of me and through me.
I want to be the best friend I can be, the best daughter and sister that I can be and I want to be an example to those little ones that watch me and look up to me.
I want to show the kindness and goodness that Christ has shown and bestowed on me to all those around me.
I want to extend mercy and forgiveness the way Christ has extended it out to me. Freely. No strings attached.
But most of all, I want to love those all around me with the love that Christ loves me with. Some people may not be easy to love, but when God's love is flowing in and through me I can love.
I want a heart of compassion for the lost souls. For the kids with no family's, for the drug addicts on the streets, for those who are bound by chains and feel that there is no freedom in sight.
I want to weep with those who weep and rejoice with those that are rejoicing.

These are not just words written in a blog. This is what I want my life to be. This is the legacy I want to leave behind when I'm gone. This is the "dash" that I'm striving to live.

We were not created to live our life for ourselves, but we have been created to glorify Christ. To bring glory to God. To serve Him and to love Him. And this is what I intend to do. No matter the cost.

So again, I pose this question to you,
What legacy are you going to leave behind?
